Fulbright  <\/strong>te invita el pr\u00f3ximo martes 15 de diciembre a las 20.00 hrs <\/strong>a una nueva tertulia telem\u00e1tica, y para la pr\u00f3xima hemos invitado a un prestigioso profesor, Eduardo Ruiz-Hitzky, cuya biograf\u00eda presentamos en ingl\u00e9s aunque la conferencia ser\u00e1 en castellano.

\nBiograf\u00eda de Eduardo Ruiz-Hitzky<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eduardo Ruiz-Hitzky is since 2017 Ad Honorem Research\nProfessor at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM) (Materials\nScience Institute of Madrid) belonging to the Consejo Superior de\nInvestigaciones Cient\u00edficas (CSIC, National Research Council of Spain) being\nFounder and First Director of several Departments including the \u201cNew Architectures\nin Materials Chemistry Department\u201d, the last one (2010) among various\ndepartments created by him in the past decades.
\n
\nGraduated in Chemistry (Universidad Complutense, Madrid, 1970; Docteur en\nSciences (Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, 1974), and PhD in\nChemistry (Universidad Complutense, Madrid, 1979). Postdoctoral fellow at the\nUniversity of Kiel (Germany, 1976). Tenure Scientist at the Instituto de\nEdafolog\u00eda y Biolog\u00eda Vegetal (Soil Science Institute, CSIC, 1975-1985), Senior\nResearch Scientist (1985-1988) at the Physical-Chemistry of Minerals Institute\n(CSIC). Research Professor since 1988, contributed to the creation of the\nprestigious Materials Science Institute of Madrid, being there a member of the\nDirection Committee during a couple of decades.
\n
\nHe mainly dedicated his research activities to the study of clays, clay\nminerals and related solids from basic research to applications in fields as\ndiverse as Biomedicine and Environment to Nanotechnology. Supervisor of around\n20 PhD Thesis, author of more than 300 publications, including high impact\njournals such as Nature, and around 20 patents some of them transferred to\nIndustry. He has received more than 10,000 citations (h-index  >50).

\nPresident of the Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Arcillas (SEA) (Spanish Clay Society)\n(2006-2010);  Member of the Junta de Gobierno (Direction Committee) at the\nICMM- CSIC (1987-2009); Member of the Direction Committee of the Inorganic\nChemistry Group belonging to the Real Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Qu\u00edmica (Spanish Royal\nSociety of Chemistry) (1989-2013).

\nOrganizer and Chair of several international conferences such as the Euchem\nConference on Chemical Reactivity in Nanoporous Solids,  (Miraflores de la\nSierra, Spain, 1999); the 5th Materials Discussions of the Royal Society of\nChemistry, UK (Madrid, 2002); the American-Japanese-Spanish Trilateral Meeting\non Clay Minerals (Madrid & Seville,  2010);  the 4th\nInternational Conference on Multifunctional, Hybrid and Nanomaterials (Sitges,\nSpain, 2015).

\nInvited Professor at the Universit\u00e9 de Paris-Sud (Orsay) and Coll\u00e8ge de France,\nParis (1987 & 2011); Senior Fellow at the National Laboratory of\nNanotechnology, Campinas, Brazil, 2015; Invited Professor at the Waseda\nUniversity, Tokyo (2012 & 2014) and Invited Lecturer at the MIT, Cambridge\n(USA, 2017).

\nHe was awarded by the Acad\u00e9mie Royal des Sciences, des Lettres et Beaux Arts de\nBelgique, (Brussels, 1976); the Association des Chimistes de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de\nLouvain  (Louvain 1976); the Ministry of Sugar (Havana, 1995); the National\nAcademy of Sciences (Havana, 2008 & 2017); the Bud\u00e9 Medal, Coll\u00e8ge de\nFrance (Paris, 2011), the AIPEA Medal (Tokyo, 2005) and the Bailey\nDistinguished Member Award,  the Clay Minerals Society (USA, 2020).<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
