We’d like you to join us for \u201cThe New Tech State,\u201d a live in-person discussion with
tech industry luminary Bill Raduchel discussing his new book and moderated by
Alberto Torres. The talk will be followed by a reception, with the opportunity to meet
the author and enjoy some wine, nibbles and good conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event\u2019s registration will be free of charge for those Stanford Alumni who
have paid the annual fee or have set up a direct debit. For other Stanford Alumni
and Ryder Club Members, the registration fee will be \u20ac12 per attendee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill Raduchel, for more than half a century, has been at the forefront of the
technological revolution and has been recognized for his contributions in the media,
education, and corporate governance fields. He had a front-row seat and was also a
key player in the birth of the digital age in which we now live\u2014from opening one of
the first online futures trading services to delivering bids in the 1990s to buy NeXT
and Apple to being \u201cin the room\u201d for the launch of licensed music on iTunes, and
ultimately to being named CTO of the Year at AOL Time Warner\u2014he has been there
with Scott McNealy to Steve Jobs to Steve Case to Steve Ballmer and other titans of
Technology and Media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on John Kenneth Galbraith\u2019s
prophecy in \u00abThe New Industrial State,\u00bb
published in 1967, \u00abThe New Technology
State\u00bb recounts discussions between Bill
Raduchel (a former colleague of
Galbraith\u2019s at Harvard) and British Army
officer turned MP, Tom Tugendhat, about
how the powerful have used the incredible
technological advances of the past half\u0002century to gain unprecedented
advantages, and what we can do to
reclaim control of our future.<\/p>\n<\/div>
