Dear Alumni,
We’d like you to join us for “The New Tech State,” a live in-person discussion with
tech industry luminary Bill Raduchel discussing his new book and moderated by
Alberto Torres. The talk will be followed by a reception, with the opportunity to meet
the author and enjoy some wine, nibbles and good conversation.
This event’s registration will be free of charge for those Stanford Alumni who
have paid the annual fee or have set up a direct debit. For other Stanford Alumni
and Ryder Club Members, the registration fee will be €12 per attendee.
Bill Raduchel, for more than half a century, has been at the forefront of the
technological revolution and has been recognized for his contributions in the media,
education, and corporate governance fields. He had a front-row seat and was also a
key player in the birth of the digital age in which we now live—from opening one of
the first online futures trading services to delivering bids in the 1990s to buy NeXT
and Apple to being “in the room” for the launch of licensed music on iTunes, and
ultimately to being named CTO of the Year at AOL Time Warner—he has been there
with Scott McNealy to Steve Jobs to Steve Case to Steve Ballmer and other titans of
Technology and Media.
Based on John Kenneth Galbraith’s
prophecy in «The New Industrial State,»
published in 1967, «The New Technology
State» recounts discussions between Bill
Raduchel (a former colleague of
Galbraith’s at Harvard) and British Army
officer turned MP, Tom Tugendhat, about
how the powerful have used the incredible
technological advances of the past halfcentury to gain unprecedented
advantages, and what we can do to
reclaim control of our future.

If you would like to acquire any of his books prior to the event to be signed by
Bill Raduchel, please send your request to info@stanfordalumnispain.org by
Friday, 21st June, and you can collect the pre-ordered copies on the day of the
event.
Please, CLICK HERE to attend the live in-person session, if you have paid the
annual fee or set up direct debit with the Stanford Alumni Association (free
admission)
